The High Court has declared that urdu-speakers or stranded pakistanis or biharis are indeed citizens of Bangladesh. At the last minute, the Attorney General tried to muddy the waters by raising a question about “allegiance” but was rebuked by the court which then went on to affirm what is natural, moral and correct - that members of this community are citizens of Bangladesh! And that they should be included in the voter list. A proud day for Bangladesh.

Congratulations! What an achievement for Swapnabhumi project.
Wow! Good news indeed. It’s about bloody time. Allegiance? Well, of course, I would say that about naturalised individuals living in the UK, so why not Bihari-Bangladeshis. Let’s have a mind-shift in those Biharis, instead of thinking of themselves, in the negative, as the descendants of rajakar traitors, let’s educate them to think of themselves as proud Bengali-speaking Bangladeshis. Being bilingual or multilingual isn’t a crime. Feel confident to celebrate the diversity of Bangladesh.
